Bee season officially began at the beeline apiaries on Thursday, April 1st with the arrival of twenty packages of bees for our new spring hives. Over 120,000 bees were installed in their new homes, with each bee package containing 6,000 to 8,000 bees and a paired queen bee. All of our new colonies have settled into their new homes and are in the process of building up their strength and population in preparation for the heavy nectar flows of summer.
The bees from our five hives that survived through the winter have awoken from their slumber and are actively foraging for nectar and pollen during the spring bloom. To see pictures of our spring bee installation please visit our Facebook page here.
